Homayoun Sakhi, born in Kabul in 1976, is a renowned virtuoso of the rubâb, Afghanistan’s national instrument. Trained by his father, Ustad Ghulam Sakhi, he has become a key figure in preserving and innovating Afghan classical music. Despite the challenges of conflict and music bans in Afghanistan, Sakhi’s dedication has kept the rubâb’s rich tradition alive. Now based in Fremont, California, he continues to inspire global audiences with his performances and teachings.
